IDUN - Frontline Survival is a premium action game for PC developed by IDUN Interactive. In this tactical sci-fi adventure, players must defend the planet against unrelenting waves of alien creatures. Combing RTS and tower defense mechanics, they will employ various units on the battlefield to fight the oncoming invasion.
Like The Riftbreaker or Diplomacy Is Not An Option, IDUN - Frontline Survival combines tower defense survival tactics with base-building elements wherein players must defend the line and their settlement. A demo version is available to get a preview of the gameplay.
Alien infestation
In IDUN - Frontline Survival, the planet has been invaded by a mysterious race of alien creatures coming in large swarms and threatening to destroy everything in their path. You are the last line of defense against this otherworldly menace, and you will be taking defensive positions and deploying units on the battlefield to fight off enemy factions, whatever it takes.
The gameplay blends the classic tower defense mechanics and real-time combat action wherein you can defend and fight off enemies while moving across the map. What sets it apart from others is that you can reassign and redeploy units throughout the battlefield on the fly. Combining tech tree progression and roguelike elements helps make the gameplay feel dynamic and engaging.
There are also various turrets, elite troops, and tactical deployments you can unlock and customize to help you create formations and combinations best suited to the situation. You can also delve into the game's story with fully-voiced characters and dialogue. All that said, there are issues with game balancing that need to be tweaked further to improve the gameplay experience.
Real-time tactics
All in all, IDUN - Frontline Survival has some pretty interesting ideas in its approach to combat, combining traditional tower defense elements with real-time tactics that let you adapt to changes in the battlefield on the fly. However, the execution still needs more work, particularly with game balance. Despite that, this is an engaging and strategic sci-fi action game worth a try.
